Preparing for Your Australian Visa Medical Examination

To ensure a smooth process for your Australian visa medical examination, please follow these steps:

  • Your valid passport
  • Any important documents regarding your medical care

You should already have a Home Affairs Portal (HAP) ID number from the Home Affairs department. Please email us your HAP ID number before your appointment. Please email us your HAP ID number before your appointment so we can quickly register you on arrival

  • Only results from the approved lab and X-ray centre in Mougins can be used.
  • Bring your physical passport. We cannot accept photocopies, ID cards, or birth certificates.
  • The cost for the appointment is 250 euros plus the cost of any testing required.
  • Medical Insurance does not cover immigration medicals.
  • Confirmation of your appointment will be sent via email by Doctolib.
  • Your referral letter will specify if you need to visit a lab; otherwise, a urine test will be conducted in our office.

  • If you have medical problems, please bring a summary of your medical records and any other important medical reports to make the visit effective.
  • Medical processing takes a minimum of 5 working days.
  • Ensure you have your HAP ID; we cannot register the examination without it.
  • If you would like to have a chaperone for your physical examination, please inform us prior.
  • Please book one appointment for each visa candidate.
  • Please contact us if you have any issues booking several appointments at once, and we will do our utmost to accommodate you.

The initial process is managed online through Immigration’s eMedical system. There are three steps:

  1. On arrival, you will sign a consent form for the medical examination with the doctor and have your photo taken.
  2. The doctor will review your medical history and perform a physical examination.
  3. This will involve a vision and hearing examination. If you need them, please bring your glasses and hearing aid.


Chest X-ray and Blood tests at Clinique Arnauld Tzanck/Mougins Hospital, a 5-minute drive from the clinic, a 30-minute walk , or a short bus journey on the 663 bus.

  • Chest X-ray is at the Radiology Centre . You do not need to make an appointment.
  • Blood screening tests at the laboratory (mandatory depending on visa type and applicant’s age). You do not need an appointment, and fasting is not required. Check the lab’s hours here, especially if you plan to go late in the afternoon or on weekends. (please the map of the hospital below).
  • Please arrive on time for your appointment.
  • You can choose the order of tests; you may visit the lab or X-ray centre before your appointment at our office. You will receive the lab and radiology prescription in advance within Doctolib. The lab and the radiology centre are in the same hospital. The lab is called Bioesteral and is next to the ‘Centre de Consultations’ at the hospital. They can advise you how to get to the Radiology which is just a short work from there.
  • They need to see your original passport to perform the test. (photos/photocopies are not accepted).
