What Is a Fit to Fly Certificate?
A fit to fly certificate is a letter from a doctor confirming that a passenger is medically fit to
travel by air. Airlines may request one if you:
- are more than 28 weeks pregnant
- have had recent surgery or a hospital admission
- have a cardiovascular or respiratory condition
- are travelling with a communicable illness
- have had a recent procedure involving anaesthesia or sedation
The certificate confirms your condition, the date of assessment, and the doctor’s professional opinion that you are fit to fly, with any relevant conditions or restrictions noted.
